Take the small road (Upper Road) from the A258 into Dover. The turning is found on the northern side of Dover Castle. Follow the road for approximately a mile. There is a turning into the ‘The Gateway to the White Cliffs’ to the right at a sharp left-hand bend in the road. There is a hut at the entrance where you pay £2.50 per car.

Park in the car park – the further east the better. From here, take the main path into the country park. Follow this for approximately 15 minutes. It can be hard to locate the top of the steps down to the beach. Please see the photo below which shows their location.

Start of the walk - thin path, unguarded, with a long drop.

Follow the steps down to bottom. On the way you will pass from the Seaford Chalk into the Lewes Chalk. At the bottom take the ladder down to the beach.

Once on the beach you can walk to the west to investigate a large recent rock fall and to the east to look for fossils among other, older falls.
